Arianna Huffington inks contract to remain site’s EIC

Arianna Huffington has yet to turn a profit at her Huffington Post, which is being sold along with its parent company, AOL, to Verizon, but now she has a new four-year contract in hand that will keep her at the helm until 2019, our Keith J. Kelly reports.

Her original contract to run the Huffington Post had expired this year, and after the Verizon takeover plans were revealed, reports surfaced that Verizon was looking to spin off the Huffington Post for up to $1 billion.

AOL purchased her site for $315 million in 2011. In recent days, Verizon said it intended to keep the Huffington Post.

In a memo to staffers Thursday, Huffington said she was staying as president and editor-in-chief.
