Woman slips and sues frat for ‘trap-like’ bubble machine

It is usually alcohol poisoning or a fight that gets people hurt at fraternity parties, but a Westchester woman says she was seriously injured by a faulty bubble machine at a SUNY Binghamton bash.

The Sleepy Hollow woman is suing a fraternity and an upstate property owner for $2 million saying she slipped and fell on a floor made sudsy by the out-of-control bubble-maker.

State University student Jaslynn Sendon said the Pi Zeta Chapter of the Chi Phi Fraternity and the property’s owner and manager were responsible for “serious and permanent personal injuries” she suffered in 2014 at the slippery frat party.

The Manhattan federal lawsuit said the machine created a “hazardous, trap-like condition.”

The suit does not say how or where Sendon was injured. She could not be reached for comment.

The property owners and a fraternity representative could not be reached for comment.

In 2011, a a hazing scandal forced the university to suspend pledging and induction at all fraternities and sororities.

Organizations were forced to petition the school to admit new members based on a review of their pledging activities.
