Veteran prosecutor tabbed for Etan Patz retrial

The Manhattan District Attorney’s office has assigned a veteran prosecutor to retry the case against a former bodega worker who confessed to the kidnap and murder of Etan Patz, the Post has learned.

Joel Seidemann, who won a conviction against ”You Light Up My Life” trust-fund playboy Nicholas Brooks for the murder of his swimsuit designer girlfriend in 2013, is now the lead prosecutor in the Patz case.

He’s replacing former lead prosecutor Joan Illuzzi-Orbon who resigned May 31 to run for Staten Island district attorney.

The first trial against Pedro Hernandez, 54, charged with the 6-year-old’s death ended May 8 with a hung jury.

After 18 days of deliberation one lone not-guilty vote prevented a conviction.

Hernandez confessed to authorities in 2012 after cops picked him up based on a tip from his brother-in-law.

Etan Patz vanished from a Soho street the first time he walked alone to the school bus stop on May 25, 1979.
