There’s going to be so many Royals in the All-Star Game

Is it too late to move the 2015 All-Star Game to Kansas City?

A  season after their team lost to the Giants in the World Series, Royals fan are voting in force for this year’s Midsummer Classic.

The latest voting update was released Monday afternoon, and Kansas City is dominating, with the leader at first base (Eric Hosmer), shortstop (Alcides Escobar), third base (Mike Moustakas), designated hitter (Kendrys Morales) and three of the top four in the outfield (Lorenzo Cain, Alex Gordon and Alex Rios).

Hosmer and Morales recently took the lead, skipping Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera and the Mariners’ Nelson Cruz, respectively, despite far inferior numbers. Second baseman Omar Infante, despite a .221 batting average, is also in the hunt to start, trailing the Astros’ Jose Altuve, a vastly superior player, by less than 1,500 votes.

There isn’t a single Yankee who would start the All-Star Game, which is being played in Cincinnati, at the moment. Designated hitter Alex Rodriguez is the closest, in third place.
