LeBron’s commitment: Losing headband — and freezing himself

LeBron James is stopping at nothing to bring Cleveland a title in the first year of his second tour with the team.

A video from Bleacher Report reveals James uses a frozen chamber (with liquid nitrogen at temperatures of 230 degrees below zero Fahrenheit) to “decrease inflammation” and “boost metabolism.”

While James is getting every last ounce out of his body, he’s also gone all in mentally.

Two months ago, in a game against the Mavericks, James played without his headband — the first time he had started a game without one since a preseason game in his rookie season.

James previously stated the decision to ditch the headband was spontaneous, but recently told the Northeast Ohio Media Group it was driven by solidarity.

“I did it because I just wanted to look like my teammates,” he said. “Just wanted to be one. Nothing more than that.”

James did make one exception, however, to his stone-cold playoff lockdown. He broke his traditional postseason hiatus from social media and external communications to dial friend and Clippers star Chris Paul following Paul’s Game 7-winning shot Saturday night against the defending champion Spurs.

“I called him from my wife’s phone,” James said Monday. “He answered the phone and was like, ‘Wassup?’ I told him: ‘Don’t say nothing, you’re not allowed to reply, you’re not allowed to say anything.’ I told him how amazing he was and how great he was and I hung up on him. I haven’t spoken to him since, it’s the truth.”
