Canyon Ranch just got a lot sexier thanks to Dita Von Teese

Canyon Ranch, a health resort and spa in Lenox, Mass., where New Yorkers go to eat really tiny meals, drink juices and learn how to boost their brain power as they age (all while wearing sweatpants), is hardly sexy.

Until now. Julie Earle-Levine reports that Canyon Ranch, which also has a property in Tucson, Ariz., has burlesque performer Dita Von Teese doing a program on sexuality sessions for women where guests can learn striptease and female empowerment including “the classic Burlesque strut.”

Von Teese will teach techniques for skillfully removing bras, garters, stockings and gloves.

A four-night package during the week Von Teese will be there (June 8 to 12) starts at $4,520 for double occupancy (price per person), including a $670 “service allowance” for each guest (which can be used for massage or other extras).

The sexuality sessions are free for anyone who stays there, and are geared toward women, but husbands and other men who are visiting the resort on those days can still partake in any of the health, wellness and fitness offerings, a spokeswoman said. Couples might want to engage in the ranch’s spa services together, outside of the Von Teese sessions.

Von Teese is working on a beauty book and a documentary on burlesque, and is sure to attract a crowd. Canyon Ranch had 3,000 visits to her event page, directed from her Facebook mention of the event.
