Comedy Central signs Hannibal Buress for new weekly series

Comedian Hannibal Buress is getting his own series on Comedy Central.

The weekly show — titled “Why? With Hannibal Buress” — will have the host answering the burning questions on his mind through stand-up, filmed segments, man-on-the-street interviews and in-studio guests.

Each of the eight half-hour episodes will tape the same week it airs, in front of a studio audience.

Burress already co-stars on Comedy Central’s “Broad City” and co-hosts “The Eric Andre Show” on Adult Swim. He gained attention last fall after a crack he made during a stand-up set about Bill Cosby being a “rapist” led to a deluge of sexual assault allegations against the “Cosby Show” star.

“Why” will be executive-produced by Buress, Jeff Stilson (“The Chris Rock Show,” “Da Ali G Show”) and Dave Becky (“Louie,” “Broad City”).
