Colts poised to swipe Johnson, Gore away from Eagles

Former Miami stars Frank Gore and Andre Johnson could soon be staging a “U”-themed reunion in Indianapolis at the Eagles’ expense.

Gore, the former 49ers running back who looked to be en route to the Eagles this weekend before getting “cold feet,” now appears ready to sign with the Colts, according to ESPN.

In addition to Gore, it looks as if the Colts are in prime position to sign former Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson. NFL.com reported Johnson is on Colts owner Jim Irsay’s private plane, headed to Indianapolis.

Should Gore and Johnson go ahead and join forces in Indianapolis, it would come some 14 years since the two played on the undefeated 2001 Hurricanes team that won the national championship.

Gore rushed for 562 yards that season as a true freshman, backing up future NFLer Clinton Portis. Johnson served as a top-flight receiver, totalling 682 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns.
