ABC teases second season of ‘How to Get Away With Murder’

There was no doubt that “How to Get Away With Murder” would be renewed for a second season, but ABC made it official during Thursday’s night’s season finale.

In a promo that aired at the end of the episode, the Viola Davis drama teased that it would return with a new season this fall.

The “Murder” renewal had been all but assured given that it premiered to 14.3 million viewers last September and has averaged nearly 9 million viewers a week this season.

ABC typically hands out renewals in mid-May ahead of its upfront presentation to advertisers. Both “Grey’s Anatomy” and “Scandal” are also expected to be given another season, keeping Shonda Rhimes’ three Thursday night dramas on the network.
