ABC to adapt Brit psych drama ‘Wire in the Blood’

ABC has signed a deal to adapt the British psychological crime drama “Wire In the Blood” as an American series, according to reports.

The procedural — which aired for six seasons in the UK on ITV — is based on characters created by the Scottish suspense novelist Val McDermid.

It follows detective Elizabeth Chase, who enlists the help of an unconventional clinical psychologist named Dr. Tony Hill to try to catch murderers before they can strike again by analyzing both the victim and the killer.

A.M. Homes (“The L Word”) will write the US adaptation, which hails from Endemol Studios and ABC Studios.

“Wire In the Blood” premiered on ITV in 2002 and previously aired in the US on BBC America.
