Cosmopolitan Editor-in-Chief Joanna Coles was the big winner in a series of Hearst changes as she was promoted to editorial director of that magazine and had teen title Seventeen added to her domain.
Seventeen’s current editor-in-chief, Ann Shoket, who has had the job since 2007, became a “consultant.”
On the business side, Cosmo senior veep and publisher Donna Kalajian Lagani also added Seventeen to her responsibilities.
“There is a natural transition from Seventeen to Cosmo,” said Hearst President David Carey.
Coles has apparently done a better job of mastering digital and is hoping to bring some of that to Seventeen.
