‘Family Guy’ hits Homer in crossover episode

‘Family Guy’s’ ” anticipated crossover episode with “The Simpsons” proved a hit for the Fox ’toon in its 13th season premiere Sunday night.

The one-hour episode titled “The Simpsons Guy” — which saw the Griffins travel to Springfield — averaged 8.4 million viewers at 9 p.m., growing more than 60 percent over premiere last season.

“Family Guy” was also the top-rated entertainment program of the night, drawing a 4.5 rating with adults under 50 — the Seth MacFarlane show’s best rating in nearly four years.

“The Simpsons” saw a boost for its own season premiere earlier in the night, which featured the much-hyped death of a Springfield resident. Homer & Co. averaged 8.5 million viewers at 8 p.m., up 33 percent from last year.
