Dolan and Weinstein sound off on Advertising Week panel

MSG boss Jim Dolan, whose family owns Cablevision, believes the cable programming bundle will fall by the wayside thanks to advances such as Netflix.

“As we start to see more [companies like] Netflix, they’ll siphon away from the bundle but you might see programming you like go away,” he added.

Dolan spoke as part of an Advertising Week panel on the changing face of marketing sports, music and movie stars.

On the same panel, Harvey Weinstein of Weinstein Company said fashion brands were giving stars such huge fees to wear their line that many were able to accept small fees to work on indie projects.

And music impresario Irving Azoff pointed to the speed at which stars get famous thanks to social media.

The biggest touring act in the world, One Direction, got a song on Sirius and soon after MSG had to move a basketball game to accommodate it.
