Candy thief pepper-sprayed after trying to grab officer’s gun: cops

An alleged Times Square candy thief upped his game Sunday, grabbing for a cop’s gun as he was being put under arrest, police said.

Clifford Gamboa, 18, stole $10 worth of candy from a corner kiosk before punching the vendor in the face at around 5 a.m., cops said.

When police responded, Gamboa lunged for one cop’s gun, but the officer was able to pepper spray him.

Gamboa was charged with assault, robbery and resisting arrest.
