Rob Ryan: I’m doing terribly — and so is Rex

Misery loves company. Even in a fraternal sense.

The first month of the NFL season has come and gone, and five teams are 1-3. Two of those teams are the Jets and Saints, and they have another thing in common besides their record: a Ryan twin on the sideline.

“Right now, man, nobody’s doing worse than the Ryan brothers,” Rob Ryan said last week, according to NOLA.com. “We might say we are two of the best coaches, and I believe that, and I know that. We’re doing everything we can to do it, but we have to do more.”

Rob’s remarks proved to be prophetic as Rex’s Jets fell to 1-3 with another frustrating home loss — this one coming to the Lions — while Rob’s Saints defense was torched in a 38-17 loss in Dallas. The brothers’ teams combined to yield 62 points and 802 yards while failing to force a turnover.

Neither team has an interception this season in 206 opposing pass attempts (Saints 110, Jets 96), and the Jets have two fumble recoveries to the Saints’ one.
