Colin Farrell confirms ‘True Detective’ casting

“True Detective” Season 2 finally has a star.

After months of speculation, Colin Farrell confirmed over the weekend that he will be part of the cast of the HBO anthology series’ next season.

“I’m doing the second series,” he told Ireland’s Sunday World. “I’m so excited.”

An HBO spokesperson has not yet responded to a request for comment.

The Irish actor had few other details to share, telling the paper, “I know it will be eight episodes and take around four or five months to shoot. I know very little about it, but we’re shooting in the environs of Los Angeles, which is great. It means I get to stay at home and see the kids.”

Creator Nic Pizzolato previously said Season 2 would feature a trio of leads and be set in California.

“True Detective” was nominated for 12 Primetime Emmy Awards this year — with nods for stars Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson and best drama series — and won for director Cary Joji Fukunaga.

Farrell is best known for his film roles, having starring in movies like “In Bruges,” “Total Recall” and “Alexander.”
