AMC has ordered a pilot episode for a companion series for its breakout hit “The Walking Dead.”
The pilot (no title yet) will be executive-produced by the team behind “The Walking Dead” — Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert — and series co-creator Dave Erickson. It will go into production later this year. “There are many corners of ‘The Walking Dead’ universe that remain unseen in the shadows,” Kirkman said in a statement.
AMC has not divulged whether anyone has been cast for the pilot, or where it will be shot.
“The Walking Dead,” one of cable’s biggest shows, is filmed in Atlanta.
Its fifth season premieres Oct. 12.
