Cops search for creep who threw pitbull off BQE

The NYPD has launched an investigation to sniff out the jerk who threw a poor pooch off the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, police sources said Thursday.

Investigators are seeking tips from anyone with information about the coldhearted crime — in which a sweet pitbull, Meeker, miraculously survived a 30-foot fall in Greenpoint around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The person who tossed the dog, near Meeker and Manhattan avenues, could be charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, which is a felony, police sources said.

Neighbors at the scene rushed to save the dog — who was breathing heavily and bleeding from his mouth, witnesses said.

They gave the dog, who was wearing no collar, water before driving him to Veterinary Emergency & Referral Group in Cobble Hill, where he was treated for an injured leg and lung, a rep from the clinic said.

The dog was in stable condition on Wednesday. Workers at the clinic named him Meeker, a nod to the street where he landed.

Witnesses on the street below couldn’t see what happened on the overpass above, according to Jon Ernsberger, 31, who saw the dog drop 30 feet in front of his car.

Cops who arrived at the scene took no action because witnesses offered to take the dog to the animal hospital, police sources said.

But the incident is now under investigation by the 94th Precinct, police sources said.

Officers usually take abused dogs to the ASPCA.

Anyone with information should call 1-800-577-TIPS.
