‘Friend’ attacks man with hammer

A Bronx man is fighting for his life after a night out with a “friend” who viciously attacked him with a hammer early Friday morning, cops said.

Police are looking to arrest Michael Dilello, 43, for attacking the 41-year-old victim, who had gone out to meet Dilello around midnight but returned to his Schuylerville home at about 3:30 a.m. with cuts and bruises on his head, cops said.

The hammered man said, “I love you,” to his frightened wife before losing consciousness.

He was taken to Jacobi hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Police don’t yet know what sparked the brutal assault or where it happened.

Dilello is six-foot tall, weighs 200 pounds, and wears glasses.
