The producers of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” film have tied up a new leading man.
Former Calvin Klein hunk Jamie Dornan has been cast in the role of Christian Grey in the much-anticipated film adaptation of E.L. James’ best-selling erotic novel, according to a report.
The native of Northern Ireland has been chosen for the juicy role a little more than a week after “Sons of Anarchy” star Charlie Hunnam dropped out of the movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Dornan, 31, will play the S&M freak Grey alongside actress Dakota Johnson, who will play female lead Anastasia Steele.
Dornan began his career modeling for big-name designers such as Giorgio Armani, Christian Dior and Calvin Klein.
The actor starred in the Sofia Coppola historical drama “Marie Antoinette” in 2006 and played the role of crackpot music producer Phil Spector in the British TV show “The Fall.”
He married actress Amelia Warner earlier this year.
Dornan takes the role after Hunnam, 33, squabbled with the filmmakers, including director Sam Taylor-Johnson, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
He also was not a popular choice with fans of the blockbuster book, whose fans vented online that he was ill-suited to play Grey.
