Who isn’t hurt? 15 on Giants injury report

The Giants almost needed a second page to list all the players on their injury report to start the week leading into Sunday’s game against the Eagles. There are 15 players on the list distributed on Wednesday, making this the most beaten-up they team has been all season.

As grim as the injury situation might appear, it does not sound as if most of the 15 injured Giants will be on the sideline for the entire week. Two who will, though, are right guard Chris Snee and center David Baas. Tom Coughlin said they have not shown “a whole lot of improvement.’’

Defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul is an addition to the injury report with an issue with his knee, but he was set to participate in Wednesday’s practice. Cornerback Corey Webster missed the last two games with a hip flexor injury, but he was set to return to practice. That addition was offset by the absence of cornerback Aaron Ross, who was forced out of the 31-7 loss to the Chiefs with a back injury.

The defensive line is especially battered. In addition to Pierre-Paul, Cullen Jenkins (Achilles, knee) did not practice, though Coughlin said Jenkins “looks better’’ and might practice later in the week. Linval Joseph (ankle, knee) did not work and Shaun Rogers (back) is expected to work on Thursday. Coughlin said rookie defensive linemen Damontre Moore and Johnathan Hankins have impressed him lately and deserve increased playing time.

Linebacker Mark Herzlich (toe) is expected to practice on Thursday. Cornerback Terrell Thomas (knee) is on a schedule that has him sitting out one practice a week and he will work on Thursday.

Offensive lineman David Diehl (thumb) was on the field for practice as he continues to get back in shape after missing most of the preseason following thumb surgery. Diehl returned to practice last week and was active for the game in Kansas City, though he did not play. Cornerback Jayron Hosley came out of the Chiefs game with a hamstring injury that Coughlin said is “an issue,’’ meaning he will be out at least a few weeks.

Others on the injury report: TE Adrien Robinson (foot), S Cooper Taylor (shoulder) and LB Jacquian Williams (knee). Williams and Taylor were set to practice on Wednesday.
