The weirdest things left on planes ever

What do handcuffs, a live parrot, bag of diamonds and underwear have in common?

They’re all items that have been left on planes, much to the surprise of flight attendants. That’s according to a survey of cabin crew by travel website Skyscanner.com.

Oddly, it’s also not uncommon for crew members to stumble across forgotten pets, including a frog, falcon and tortoise.

Other weird items discovered on board long after passengers departed include dentures, a bag of sand, a glass eye and prosthetic leg. Not surprisingly, the baffled crew were left wondering just how those items managed to be forgotten.

Meanwhile, any love that may have been in the air failed to translate to the ground, with a written marriage proposal and wedding dress also left behind.

Other strange items discovered by the flight attendants include a clog, box of dried fish, wig and a toupee. A bag of onions, one shoe and double bass were also spotted.

Passengers were also quite forgetful when it came to the travel essentials, with almost a quarter of the crew surveyed having found a lost passport on board, followed by lost phones (23 per cent) and books (21 per cent).

Skyscanner spokesman Dave Boyte said: “Forgetting your book or magazine happens often when disembarking and most of us have had that sinking feeling when misplacing your passport. But a prosthetic leg? Now surely that’s something you don’t forget?”
