American adults for the first time spending more time with digital devices than watching TV

Americans are putting down the remote and picking up their digital devices more than ever.

For the first time, adults in the US are spending more time with their digital devices than watching TV, according to AdAge.

Adults are spending an average five hours and nine minutes every day with digital media compared to spending four hours, 31 minutes in front of the TV.

Time with digital media jumped 38 minutes from last year while time with TV remained steady.

Mobile devices are the driving force behind digital media consumption with adults spending more time on tablets or smartphones (two hours, 21 minutes) than on PCs (two hours, 19 minutes).

The study by eMarketer said US adults are spending an average 11 hours and 52 minutes with all types of media, up 13 minutes on last year, while print and radio use was dropping.
