Weekend subways a rail mess

It’ll be a weekend of subway hell in New York as construction work jams up train travel all over the city.

Only three lines will run normally — the D, the L and the Q.

Expect delays everywhere else.

Anyone going downtown should steer clear of the 1, 2 and 3 trains, which will terminate at 14th Street because of construction on Cortlandt Street.

On the East Side, the 4, 5 and 6 trains will have reduced service because of work in Union Square and The Bronx.

There’s no 7 train between downtown Flushing and Mets-Willets Point in Queens, and the A and C trains won’t run between 168th Street and 207th Street in upper Manhattan because of painting at the 175th Street station.

Free shuttle buses will replace trains in some places, including between Hewes and Essex streets on the J line. Lots of other diversions and delays are spelled out on the MTA’s Web site, mta.info.

Straphangers are annoyed. “You have a longer wait for your train and when it comes, you can barely squeeze in,” said theater director Kris Kukul, 37, who lives on the Upper West Side and figures his commute to work will take another 10 to 15 minutes.

“Those alternate buses they set up? Forget about it! You’re better off walking,” said Kevin Stewart, 33, of Harlem.

The MTA says the weekend repair work is necessary to keep trains running.
