Mariners’ Hernandez passes Yankees’ CC as highest paid pitcher in baseball

Now he can live like a king.

Mariners ace Felix Hernandez has agreed to a seven-year, $175 million deal with the team, according to USA Today. It makes the right-hander the highest-paid pitcher in baseball history, surpassing Yankees lefty CC Sabathia.

The contract is expected to be official before spring training opens next week. The 26-year-old righty is 98-76 with a 3.22 ERA over his eight years in Seattle.

Hernandez, 26, won the Cy Young in 2010 and was scheduled to make $39.5 million over the next two seasons before this deal was reached.
