Belfort knocks out Bisping at UFC on FX 7, calls out ‘clown’ Sonnen, Jones

Vitor Belfort knocked out Michael Bisping and then turned his attention to Chael Sonnen and Jon Jones.

The UFC star used his post-fight interview at UFC on FX 7 in Sao Paulo, Brazil to call Sonnen a “clown” and ask for a rematch with Jones, the light heavyweight champion. Jones and Sonnen fight April 27 in Newark for the title.

“Kick him out,” Belfort said of Sonnen. “Let me fight Jon Jones. I need that rematch. Get that clown away.”

Sonnen, an analyst on Fuel TV’s post-fight show, was able to respond immediately.

“You’ve been telling the world that you want to meet Jesus,” Sonnen said, addressing the devout Christian. “I would gladly arrange that travel, but first I’m gonna get rid of Jon Jones. But you are next. … Let me be clear, Vitor – I accept. Don’t make any mistake about it.”

Belfort finished Bisping with a left head kick in the second round, followed by some punches on the ground. Referee Dan Miragliotta had to step in and stop it.

A win would have earned Bisping a shot at Anderson Silva’s middleweight title. Now that won’t happen and since Silva has already beaten Belfort there won’t be a rematch any time soon.

That leaves Belfort’s next fight up in the air, but he seems to want to move back up to light heavyweight and face Jones again. More likely, though, is a bout with a middleweight contender or a matchup with Sonnen, which would surely have an interesting lead up.
