Pot man ‘shoots’ self

A Long Island man who planted a secret garden of marijuana plants in a vacant Suffolk industrial park accidentally photographed himself twice — with cameras he set up to monitor his crop.

State Police are now asking for the public’s help to identify the man, who cultivated 54 marijuana plants as high as six feet each and worth about $150,000.

Police got an anonymous tip earlier this month and found the illegal bushes, along with two battery-powered cameras, which automatically sense animals or people and take digital pictures.

“There were pictures of him in a black mask and what looks like some sort of plastic gloves,’’ said State Police Inspector Keith Skala.

“There was also a shot of him without the mask on.”

In addition, “There were pictures of cats and birds and of a fox going by,’’ said Skala.
