American Airlines parent AMR Corp. said in a court filing that a group of “substantial creditors” is interested in providing financing for the company’s reorganization.

Tepid summer

The US economy grew at a tepid 1.7 percent annual rate in the April-June quarter. The Commerce Department’s initial estimate was 1.5 percent.

Sears has been bumped from the S&P 500 Index by chemical maker LyondellBasell Industries. S&P said that the retailer has too few shares available for trading to be representative of American companies.
