In this summer’s Saratoga Showdown, The Post’s pony pickers, John DaSilva, Ed Fountaine, Vic Cangialosi and Anthony Affrunti, square off every day of the meet.

Each starts with a bankroll of $2,000, with a maximum bet of $50 per day. May the best bettor win!

JOHN DaSILVA

TODAY’S PLAY: In the eighth race, lets go for the lead by taking first time turfer Battle Hardened. Play $10 to win on Battle Hardened and then play a $4 excata box of Battle Hardened with Which Market, Animal Spirits, Optimizer, Film Making and Kanagaro. Total bet: $50.

YESTERDAY’S RESULTS: All bets refunded as key horse Chifa was a late scratch in the second race.

TODAY’S PLAY: Count ’em. There are 168 horses entered on Toga’s premiere card so lets keep it as simple as we can. Play $20 to win on Soulsinging in the third and $30 to win on Sneaky Kitten in the seventh. Total bet: $50.

YESTERDAY’S RESULTS: In race five The Thinker should have thought about staying in the barn as he was pulled up midway through the race. Chifa scratched so we dropped $20 on the day.

TODAY’S PLAY: In the first race, $20 win on Brigand; $5 exacta box: Brigand, Dehere of the Cat, Jeter. Total bet: $50.

YESTERDAY’S RESULTS: In the fifth race, Ampersand ($12 win) won paying $8.10; in the sixth, Button Girl ($12 win, $6 double with Ampersand) did not win; in the eighth, Silver Timber ($20 win) ran fourth at 9-5. Lost $1.40.

TODAY’S PLAY: Big day, big play. If Archwarrior gets to run in the second, we’ll put the whole $50 to win on him. If he scratches, we’ll play the same on Kanagaro in the eighth. Total bet: $50.

YESTERDAY’S RESULTS: Back in black! And glad to be back. Third race exacta hit returning $17.60 ten times for $176.00. Carrot Thief finished third and dropped the $30 win bet. Profit of $126.
