Jets practice: Tebow struggles on birthday

CORTLAND – Jets quarterback Tim Tebow didn’t have a great birthday – at least on the practice field.

Tebow finished the day 2-for-9 with two sacks in team drills during practice Tuesday morning, the day he turned 25 years old.

Tebow missed wide receiver Joseph Collins open in the end zone during team drills, and failed to get a first down in a red zone two-minute drill, throwing three incomplete passes around a six-yard scramble.

Mark Sanchez fared better, going 10-for-20 with a 30-yard touchdown to Dustin Keller and a sack during team drills. Both quarterbacks did well in 7-on-7 drills for the second straight day, with Sanchez going 6-for-8 with three touchdowns (two to Josh Baker and one to Dustin Keller) and Tebow going 5-for-6 with a touchdown to Jeff Cumberland.

Nick Folk and Josh Brown each made all four of their field goal attempts Tuesday.
