Baring lawsuit vs. DA

ALBANY — A New York City strip-club owner is suing the chairwoman of the state ethics agency, claiming Janet DiFiore used taxpayer money to defend herself the last time he took her to court.

Cheetah Club owner Sam Zherka alleges in state Supreme Court that DiFiore — as Westchester district attorney — improperly billed the county for her legal costs defending an earlier suit he brought even though she insisted she was fighting it as a private citizen.

Zherka’s Westchester Guardian newspaper had run a story critical of DiFiore’s husband, a lawyer. Zherka sued her in 2007 for allegedly threatening him over the article, but the suit was dismissed.
