FDNY ‘hose’ pic yanked

This FDNY firefighter wanted to fan some flames!

But a smoldering photo of Joseph Aviles, who posed in an FDNY beefcake calendar last year, was quickly doused after it popped up on Twitter last week under the handle “Fdny-mr-october.

Taken by himself in the mirror, the erotic shot shows a bare-chested, tattooed Aviles with one hand holding a cellphone and the other jammed inside his pants.

“It’s just phenomenally foolish,” griped a retired FDNY member.

Another photo on the Twitter page shows Aviles — from Engine 66, Ladder 61 in The Bronx — as shirtless Mr. October in the 2011 City of the Brave calendar, which described him as married.

Aviles, 28, did not return calls for comment.

The pictures vanished from Twitter a day after The Post asked the FDNY about it.

“I’m sure a lot of people are tweeting inappropriate things,” said FDNY spokesman Frank Gribbon. “What did he do wrong?”

According to FDNY regulations, firefighters –on or off duty — must show the same “good behavior” as “law-abiding, self-respecting citizens.”

“They shall conduct themselves at all times in a manner which will not bring reproach or reflect discredit upon the department,” the rules state, adding that violations will result in disciplinary action.

The FDNY retiree said, “It’s a catchall for ‘Don’t do anything to embarrass the department.'”

But Katherine Kostreva, who photographed the calendar’s 12 FDNY hunks, including Aviles, after firefighters rescued her from a car wreck, was sympathetic.

“Men do stupid things,” she said. “Sticking your hands down your pants and saving a life are two different things. It doesn’t mean he’s any less qualified to run in to burning buildings.”
