McCarren Pool a ‘punch’-line

The first rule of McCarren Pool fight club is . . . wait, what?

Hundreds of posters promoting a mock “McCarren Pool Fight Club” — an apparent reference to the slew of violence at the public pool since it reopened last month — have been found all over Williamsburg this week.

The posters tout a matchup between “Tanned Assassin” Roberto, the champ, against “The Piranha” Thomas, the challenger.

No date is given for the fracas, although the first punch is supposed to fly at 9:15 — 45 minutes after the pool closes.

“I noticed them last night when I was walking home — even one at the back entrance to the pool,” resident Kristina V. said yesterday, asking that her full name not be used for fear of retribution.

Parks Department officials said they were aware of the signs, but declined to comment. But a source said, “They are not amused.”

The McCarren Park Pool, which had been shut in 1984, has had four violent incidents since it reopened on June 28 following a $50 million renovation.

On Wednesday, a group of city officials, including Council Speaker Christine Quinn, met to try to find a solution to the ongoing mayhem.
