LIRR sees service delays, suspensions

The weekend got off to a slow start for thousands of Long Island Rail Road commuters.

Service was suspended in both directions between Jamaica Station and Atlantic Terminal because of weather-related signal problems today, sparking widespread delays in the evening rush hour.

Trains stopped running in both directions from around 2:45 pm — right when the storm rolled through the area — and wasn’t restored until 4:20 pm.

The storm also caused system-wide signals problems that have led to isolated delays on all LIRR lines.

Hardest hit was the Port Washington branch, where some delays were has high as 30 minutes.

Some trains have also been cancelled.
