Brakes on bus service

No, it’s not you — that bus really is taking forever for come!

The MTA is cutting service on 12 bus lines in four boroughs beginning in July, adding up to five minutes of wait time on some routes, transit officials said.

Impacted lines include the popular Manhattan crosstown bus M23, which runs on 23rd Street between Peter Cooper Village and Chelsea Piers.

Also facing a cut is the Brooklyn B41 bus — which goes from Marine Park to Downtown Brooklyn — which served 11 million people last year.

Officials insisted that the majority of the tweaks are minor, occurring mostly on weekends and adding as little as half a minute wait time on certain routes.

NYC Transit President Thomas Prendergast said that all the routes selected for service reductions have seen serious drops in ridership.

The reductions don’t save the MTA money, he said.

“The genesis for this isn’t to cut; it’s to match service to demand,” he said.

The MTA is also adding service on five other lines.
