The President’s puppets: AP and the Pulitzer

The Issue: AP’s coverage of NYPD anti-terror efforts and pro-Obama comments by its chairman.

It is rather appropriate that the annual Pulitzer Prizes are awarded at Columbia University, the bastion of liberal hypocrisy (“The AP’s Prize Package,” Editorial, April 6).

Apparently, the Pulitzer Prize has gone the way of the Nobel Peace Prize.

AP Chairman Dean Singleton’s previous remarks regarding President Obama’s accomplishments have probably been well-received by those tin ears, especially judging by the Associated Press’ biased reporting of the NYPD’s effort to keep New York City safe.

The event will be a publicist’s hat trick: Obama, Singleton and Columbia University.

The AP has become a government-run lapdog that churns out nothing but praise for anything leaning leftward.

It used to be that people in the press would at least pretend to cover their lopsided favoritism, but that’s all gone now.

The shameless introduction of Obama by Singleton left no doubt whom he and the group of editors he was addressing are rooting for.

Singleton claims that Obama inherited a great recession, but what he doesn’t say is that he made it worse.

Singleton says that Obama pushed through a comprehensive healthcare plan, but he neglected to mention that an overwhelming majority doesn’t want it.

False praise is no praise at all, and selective journalism is no journalism either.

The AP is just another disgraceful news outlet that people will cease to believe in.
