Mike: State GOP plan $crews city

ALBANY — Mayor Bloomberg — a former Republican — whacked the state Senate’s GOP majority yesterday for trying to short-change the Big Apple.

Bloomberg, who’s given millions of dollars to Senate Republican campaigns, chastised the GOP for favoring the rest of the state in its official budget proposal last week.

In a letter to Gov. Cuomo yesterday, he claimed the GOP plan would cost the city about $500 million over five years because the state would take over increases in the city’s Medicaid program at a slower rate than for other localities.

“We have the interests of all New Yorkers in mind, including those who reside in the city,” said Scott Reif, a spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos (R-LI).
