Hulu original series ‘Battleground’ and ‘A Day in the Life’ available free

No cable? No antenna? No interest in watching recent reruns of TV shows online? No problem – provided you’ve got a steady Internet connection. Hulu’s got a pair of original series that are free to watch right now. (OK, one of them starts Monday.)

Hulu’s “Battleground” cast and a barn

First up, “Battleground,” Hulu’s first original scripted series. With Election 2012 rapidly approaching, there couldn’t be a better time for this half-hour series about the behind-the-scenes of a political campaign in Wisconsin, one of the key “battleground” states (hence the name of the show). Shot like a documentary, the 13-episode series revolves around campaign workers and volunteers attempting to keep their Senate candidate in the race. The series is the brainchild of actor JD Walsh, producer Hagai Shaham and director Marc Webb (“The Amazing Spider-man,” “500 Days of Summer”).

Then, premiering Monday (March 12), there’s Season 2 of Morgan Spurlock’s “A Day in the Life” – in which Spurlock documents his first-hand experience of a complete day in someone (famous) else’s life. This season – 10 episodes, 22-minutes per – you’ll get insight into the daily existence of celebs including chef Mario Batali, UFC’s Jason “Mayhem” Miller, “The Soup’s” Joel McHale, musician Questlove and “The 4-Hour Workweek” author Tim Ferriss.
