Ashton Gibbs scored 21 points and Cameron Wright added a career-high 13 as No. 17 Pitt rolled past Robert Morris 81-71 yesterday in Pittsburgh.

The Panthers (5-1) won their third straight by shooting 55 percent from the field in the first half. The addition of rangy freshman forward Khem Birch into the lineup helped. Birch finished with eight points, 11 rebounds and six blocks while making his second career start.

Cordon Williams led Robert Morris (4-2) with 19 points but the Panthers held Velton Jones to 10 points.

Pitt improved to 29-0 all-time against its crosstown rival and 69-0 against NEC opponents.

In Anaheim, Evan Roquemore hit two go-ahead free throws with 4.3 seconds left as Santa Clara (4-2) fbeat Villanova (4-2) in the third-place game of the 76 Classic. Mouphtaou Yarou finished with 19 points for Villanova.

In Anaheim, Brian Conklin tied a career-high 25 points to help Saint Louis (6-0 ) beat Oklahoma (4-1) to win the 76 Classic tourney.
