Field of failure

Has Peggy Noonan not been following this Republican field of candidates (“Brand Hex,” PostScript, Nov. 6)?

The current low opinion of the GOP comes from its failure to produce presidential candidates who aren’t incoherent, unprincipled or dumb.

The choice seems to be between Neanderthals who think that the essential truth of evolution is in dispute, that it’s wrong to inoculate children against potential disease, that homosexuality is an evil or that we should hook up Ben Franklin’s kite to a border fence.

These individuals would be better suited for an election in 1812.

Three-party monty

We were saddled with Bill Clinton for eight years, and then his wife as senator, because of Ross Perot’s third-party run (“Three for the Road,” Kyle Smith, PostScript, Nov. 6).

If Kyle Smith wants to see President Obama in the White House another four years and the country ruined forever, then he should push for a third-party candidate.

The robots in the Democrat Party will vote in a trance-like state for Obama, while the Republicans will lose votes to whichever loser heads up the third party.

Maybe Donald Trump will get the hairpiece vote or Ron Paul will get the space-cadet vote, but either would detract from the Republican candidate’s total, not Obama’s.

Steve Becker, East Meadow

Smith is on the money. Just look at how many people have bailed on both parties.

The Democratic Party has been taken over by a group of left-wing loons, and the Republican Party isn’t anything to be happy about unless you look to Allen West, Marco Rubio and a few other new faces.

I encourage people to run to an independent party.

Obama was only elected in 2008 because of John McCain and George W. Bush.

He got 53 percent of the independent vote because they believed his lies of hope and change. But Obama’s approval rating with independents has tanked.

If the Republicans can come up with anyone close to decent, the election will go to them.

The independents, again, will decide the presidency, not Republicans or Democrats.

Down & out in NY

George Marlin is selling us the Brooklyn Bridge when he tells us that families with $300K in income are “scraping by” (“Hang Tough, Andrew,” Post-Opinion, Nov. 2).

Are the mortgage payments on their various homes too expensive?

Does it cost too much to pay for the Lexus, Escalade and the Mercedes?

What a tough life!

Lohan’s toll

Exactly how many law-enforcement people are feeding at this trough known as Lindsay Lohan (“Lohan Released From Jail,” Nov. 7)?

I would love to see somebody calculate exactly what this travesty is costing taxpayers.

Separate & equal

If even the politically correct loons in Zuccotti Park recognize the value in single-sex dorming, why is a Catholic University being sued for doing the same (“Circus Tent: Gals’ Safe House,”Nov. 5)?
