2 people with drug items arrested outside NY cops’ HQ

FORT EDWARD, N.Y. — Authorities say two North Carolina residents picked the wrong place to be carrying drug paraphernalia — a parking lot outside an upstate New York law enforcement building where a DEA training session was being held.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office says one of the 40 police officers attending the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency’s narcotics interdiction school was returning from his lunch break Thursday when he spotted a man and a woman with drug paraphernalia in the parking lot of the sheriff’s department headquarters in Fort Edward.

The officer alerted deputies, who arrested the pair.

Deputies say the man had planned to visit an inmate at the county jail, which is located at the same complex.

Authorities say the two were being held in the jail Friday.
