Frack on!

A thank you to Lawrence Mone for his column on the desperate economy in Upstate New York and how it would be helped by natural-gas drilling (“Keeping the Jobs Promise to Upstate,” PostOpinion, June 21).

Hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking,” is no more dangerous than the way it is used.

Pennsylvania is using it and having great success, with a few small accidents — not to mention the jobs and money being generated.

Fracking is not to be confused with the A-bomb. After the horrific spill in the Gulf, BP is again drilling, with little being said.

More pressure and understanding is needed to drop the moratorium and give jobs to Upstate. It would provide a degree of prosperity for the folks up here.
