Player of the Year: Jessica Dahldorf, Poly Prep
The Northwestern-bound junior midfielder (below) helped orchestrate the best season in Poly Prep girls lacrosse history as the team reached its first NYSAISAA final. She tallied an amazing 80 goals and 16 assists and was instrumental in a young squad growing into one of the city’s best. The Blue Devils won seven straight to close the regular season, including Dahldolf scoring at the buzzer to hand Riverdale its only loss.
Coach of the Year: Carol Pouliot, Riverdale
The last four years have been a special labor of love for Pouliot. The Falcons finally reached the pinnacle by winning their first-ever NYSAISAA title, avenging their only loss to Poly Prep in the final. Her intense but player-
empowering coaching style brought out the best of her players and sent the school’s special core of seniors out as champions.

Player of the Year: Ben Andreycak, Fordham Prep
The All-American junior attack (above) missed most of last year with a broken collarbone and made opponents pay for his lost time. One of the city’s best creators with the ball in his stick, he scored 57 goals and tallied 38 assists and made his teammates better around him. Andreycak was the motor to the Fordham Prep offense as the Rams won their first NYCHSAA Class AA title since 2006.
Coach of the Year: Brooks Sweet, Poly Prep
There may not be a more intense presence on the sidelines in New York City lacrosse. Sweet is always yelling instruction, encouragement and sometimes handing out tough love. The hard work all paid off as he claimed his first NYSAISAA title in four years at Poly Prep, which hadn’t won since 2006. After a slow regular-season finish, the balanced Blue Devils dominated in the playoffs.

Player of the Year: Troy Gaugler, Bryant
His two brothers, Todd and Tyler, already secured PSAL city championships at Cardozo and the running joke all playoffs was that he wouldn’t be allowed home if he didn’t win one, too. Gaugler (above) didn’t have to seek out a new place to live. The powerful senior had 10 kills to lead Bryant past Academy of American Studies for its first title since 2005. He was easily the most valuable player in the postseason.
Coach of the Year:
Alex Chan, Regis
Emotionally, it was a tough year for Regis and Chan. The Upper East Side school’s gym was destroyed in a fire late in the season when the Raiders had earned home court advantage for the playoffs. Chan also was grieving the death of his grandmother. But he pulled the team together en route to a second CHSAA city championship in two years.
