Weiner made fun of Larry Craig scandal: report

Rep. Anthony Weiner poked fun at former Sen. Larry Craig’s toe-tapping bathroom scandal not long before his own online antics became public, according to a new report.

In emails last month, Weiner warned porn star Ginger Lee that a “conservative blogger/troll” was trying to reach his female Twitter followers.

“If you’re sleeping with your Twitter followers, that would make for a way cooler headline that if you were trollin’ for folks in the bathroom at an airport or something,” Lee wrote, according to TMZ.com.

Weiner responded: “Yeah, the joke’s on me. Some of my Twitter followers hang out in airport bathrooms apparently. That’s where the trolls troll.”

Craig didn’t run for re-election after he was arrested in a 2007 sting operation against men cruising for sex at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

An undercover cop claimed Craig tapped his foot between the stalls, a signal for soliciting sex. Craig denied soliciting sex but pled guilty to a lesser charge of disorderly conduct.

Weiner has admitted that he spent the past three years sending and receiving dirty online chat messages from six women, including Lee.
