Car crashes into a Brooklyn deli, injures six people

A out-of-control Nissan Maxima today hurtled into two people standing at a Brooklyn bus stop, then went careening into a busy Brooklyn bodega, smashing into several customers sitting in tables by the window, police and witnesses said.

“It was a bloodbath,” said Shimi Marcus, 22.

“I saw two young kids, maybe teenagers, waiting outside [the bus stop]. She [the driver] smashed right into them and threw them like toys through the glass [of the bodega].”

A total of six people were injured in the midday mayhem just after 3 p.m.

The 1995 Nissan — which was registered to an Elmont, LI woman — was trying to make a left turn when the driver suddenly went careening into a B11 bus stop at the intersection of McDonald Avenue and Avenue I.

After hitting the two on the street, the car flew into the popular Anisha Food, which was crowded with around ten customers.

“There was one man who was totally drenched in blood, head to toe,” Marcus said.

Deli worker Mamun Allam — who was behind the counter when the car come crashing through the side of the store —said it sounded like “an explosion.”

“When I got up to check on everyone in the restaurant, I thought they were all dead,” he said. Fortunately, none of the injuries were life threatening, officials said.

Several of the injured had been sitting at window tables overlooking the street, drinking coffee or eating food, said Allam, who was in the midst of making a customer’s meal when the car came in.

The driver — described as an older woman — was questioned at the scene. It’s unclear why she crashed. She was not charged with a crime, police said.
