I haven’t had the time to catch as many films as I would like in the Film Forum’s salute to five Japanese divas. One I have managed to see (re-see, actually) is Yasujiro Ozu’s “Tokyo Story” (1953). An elderly couple from the suburbs visit their grown children in Tokyo, with tragic results. Setsuko Hara is outstanding as the couple’s widowed daughter-in-law. After all these years, the film is still a grabber.
