JERUSALEM — Palestinian militants in Gaza fired more than 50 shells into Israel yesterday, the heaviest barrage in two years, Israeli officials said.
A Hamas official was killed and four civilians wounded when Israel hit back, said a Gaza Health Ministry spokesman.
Police said the militants fired 54 mortar shells at border communities within 15 minutes, with shrapnel slightly wounding two civilians.
