NBA: Wade day-to-day after wrist MRI

Heat guard Dwyane Wade has a bruised right wrist and is listed as day to day. The team says an MRI exam performed yesterday showed no major problem.

Wade banged the wrist on the court during Thursday’s loss at the Knicks and did not play in the Heat’s 88-87 win over the Pistons on Friday night. Miami is at Thunder today.

* Grizzlies guard O.J. Mayo said he believes an “energy drink” he bought at a gas station contained the substance that led to his 10-game suspension. The NBA suspended Mayo on Thursday for testing positive for DHEA.

* In San Antonio, Manu Ginobili scored 22 points and the Spurs became the NBA’s first 40-game winner, beating the Rockets 108-95. . . . In Dallas, Dirk Nowitzki scored 19 points as the Mavericks beat the Hawks 102-91.

MLB: Source: Pujols would veto trade

Other teams have asked the Cardinals about Albert Pujols in the past, but he Cardinals have never really pursued any trade discussion regarding the perennial MVP candidate. But no matter what happens in the last days of negotiations before Pujols arrives at the Cardinals’ camp in spring training, the slugger will not be traded, according to ESPN.com.

The understanding within the St. Louis front office is that Pujols will not accept any trade going forward, sources told the website. He has the right to veto any trade proposal, and would do so.

* Orioles club president Andy MacPhail confirmed the team has made an offer to designated hitter Vladimir Guerrero, a free agent who last season hit .300 with 29 homers and 115 RBIs for the AL champion Rangers.

* The Mariners and third baseman Chone Figgins tried to quiet trade rumors during the team’s annual fanfest celebration. Both Figgins and general manager Jack Zduriencik downplayed the possibility of a trade that would send the speedy, defensive standout to the Athletics.

* The Rangers agreed to terms on a $5.8 million contract for Mike Napoli, the catcher-first baseman they just acquired in a trade. . . . The Blue Jays signed reliever Frank Francisco to a one-year, $4 million contract.

GRID: Flacco angry about Ravens firing Zorn

Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco is angry over the team’s decision to fire quarterbacks coach Jim Zorn, who was dismissed on Thursday after one season with Baltimore. Flacco said he’s “not happy” and considers the move to be a personal attack on his own performance this season.

* In Mobile, Ala., Florida State’s Christian Ponder threw two touchdown passes, including a clinching 23-yarder to TCU’s Jeremy Kerley in the South’s 24-10 Senior Bowl victory over the North.

SOCCER: Barcelona wins record 15th straight

In Barcelona, Spain, Barcelona avenged its only defeat in the Spanish league this season with a record-equaling 3-0 win over Hercules, getting two goals from Lionel Messi in the last three minutes to seal the win.

* In Doha, Qatar, Japan won the Asian Cup for a record fourth time, defeating Australia 1-0 on a goal by substitute Tadanari Lee in extra time.

ETC.: Casey, Hanson share lead in Bahrain

In Riffa, Bahrain, Paul Casey shot a 6-under 66 and Peter Hanson had a 67 to share the third-round lead in the European Tour’s Volvo Champions. They were at 16-under 200. Darren Clarke was another shot back.

* In Greensboro, N.C., Alissa Czisny won her second title at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships, skating the performance of a lifetime to upstage fellow previous champions Rachael Flatt and Mirai Nagasu. Caitlin Yankowskas and John Coughlin won their first pairs title.
