Pig Kahuna is ‘bacon’ on own island

And this little piggie went to . . . the Bahamas.

He and seven other pigs are the only inhabitants of a sandbar Bahamians have dubbed Pig Island, near Staniel Cay.

“They are friendly and will run alongside a person because they like to be fed,” said photographer Jim Abernathy, who discovered the pigs on a shark-diving expedition and is about to release a children’s photo book “The Secret of Pig Island.”

He speculates that someone left the pigs on the island a decade ago and never returned. With three fresh-water springs and food supplied by visitors, the pigs were able to thrive.
