Ridge state senator on track with MTA

Brooklyn now has a direct line to the MTA.

State Sen. Marty Golden (R–Bay Ridge) has been appointed to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Capital Program Review Board by senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos.

The board’s role is review and oversight over expenditures made through the MTA’s $26.3 billion five-year capital plan.

“I look forward to being part of negotiations that will chart a course for the future of transportation in New York,” said Golden. “Commuters are demanding improvements to better their daily commute and their quality of life and we must make it happen.”

The position brings with it no added stipend for Golden, who makes $79,500 a year as a state senator plus $12,500 for chairing the senate’s Civil Service and Pensions committee.

Besides Golden, there are three other voting members of the board — a mayoral appointee, a gubernatorial appointee and a member appointed by the Assembly majority leader — and two non-voting members, one appointed by the Senate minority leader and one by the Assembly minority leader.
